BRUCIE
[Band Page]

The Name?
My name Is Bruce Pruiett, but as a child my Mother always called me Brucie. When I was 18, I asked my Mother if she could, for the love of all that is holy, drop the i from my name. She did and I never thought of it again. But few years ago when she passed away, I realized it wasn't such a big deal.

What are your songs written about?
I always write about "other" people, often unknown to me. I have made attempts to write about my own life, but few of them get out the door. Guess I'm kinda shy in that way.

What makes a good song?
I doubt I could actually explain it. Some songs I relate to, some give me the chills, some just have that one in a million riff. If I ever write one, I will let you know.

What is your favourite song of all time?
Into the mystic by Van Morrison

Who would be in your ultimate musical supergroup?
Jeff Beck, Adrian Belew, Jaco Pastorius, and Joe Vitale.

What is your claim to fame (musical or non musical)?
I can't really call it a claim to fame. But I am most proud that I gave up the Rock Star thing, to raise my kids. Looking back as to what was most likely to have happened to me. I ended up with two great kids. Instead of endless gigs at state fairs, with people yelling "Freebird".

What are your musical dreams and goals?
Most of my dreams were met in the 80's while fronting a popular band. The goal I still have is to one day write the best song I can. A song that I might listen to twenty years from now, and not flinch.

Where is your favourite place in the world and why?
Northern Wisconsin in the winter time. I love when they give up on trying to clear the streets. And you see snowmobiles parked outside taverns, like horses in the old west.

Finish the sentence: "I'll never forget the first time I...."
Truly helped someone. It's an amazing feeling, to know you have made a difference.

Why did you sign up to Sound Aid?
I have always had an interest in helping those less fortunate. Joining up with Sound Aid, was a way of gathering enough clout to make a real difference.

What other Sound Aid artists do you listen to?
While some of these artists were people I was listening to before. I have found so much great music on Sound Aid, artists I might not have heard otherwise.

What do you think are the best ways to cure world hunger?
I think if we would take the money we are using to kill people, and use that to help people around the world to develop new ways to feed themselves, that would be a huge step in the right direction. There was a time when we could all act as if people around the world are not truly connected. But time has proven us wrong.
