BLACKBIRDS

A collaboration between a teacher and a former student. Mike has played on the Chicago scene – rock, folk, blues, and stops in between – for over 30 years, and has returned to recording after a 15 year hiatus. Claire is a student at St. Louis University and has little experience beyond student productions, but an incredibly clear voice which can only get better as she develops her own style.

Mike is a full-time teacher now, but plays benefits for various causes (including several for Heifer!) and also house concerts. Mike frequently teams up with Matt Scharpf, formerly of “Jamestown”. As a repertoire grows, Claire may join the live performing. For Mike, music remains a release and also a means of funneling attention and money to causes about which he is passionate.
